About me
I am Brazilian, piscean and traveller. Working as a yacht stewardess gives me the oportunitty to be close to the ocean, which is where I always wanted to be. This blog is the result of a desire to share my life with people who are seeking for a new adventure and also to help those who cross my path. Welcome to my world!
Crew Agencies
Crew Agencies are there to help you
22/03/2017 - Updated on 30/03/2017 08h37

So you did your STCW, and you got the ENG1 done. What now?
The good news is, you're not all alone, the Crew Agencies are here to help you. Bad news, is not always easy to find your first job on a yacht.

The agency does not hire, but rather works as a connection between a boat that needs a crew and a crew that is looking for a opportunity to work on a boat. In other words, agencies negotiate interviews with the captain, sometimes even with the owner of the yacht or the person in charge of hiring. Thus, if the hiring takes place, you shall not be employed by the agency. The boat will be responsible for you and for all related formalities.

*Warning!* Never, under no circumstances, pay for an agency or a person in order to obtain an interview. Any agreement or payment for agencies is made by the boat whos hiring. Therefore, be wary of people who promise fortunes for a “measly price”.

I have prepared a list of agencies from different parts of the world. I had no specific criterion when inserting them in this list and do not know what type of service each of these agencies provide. However, I thought it would be interesting to list them so you could start your search process.

Needless to say, using our friend Google and registering in as many agencies as you can may increase your chances of success. I also would like to emphasize that looking for jobs through agencies, especially when you are just starting, is more secure. You will accept a job offer knowing that the position is legitimate.

Don’t forget the Facebook groups and also to subscribe with Yotspot, an online agency that publishes job opportunities from other agencies, so that you may receive opportunities that match your profile.

And now, the awaited crew agency list.
